You may have heard that hypnotherapy works with both the conscious and subconscious parts of the mind, because whenever the subconscious and conscious parts of the mind have different priorities, there is an internal conflict, which the subconscious tends to win.

For instance, a conscious plan for healthier eating could be overpowered by a stronger imagination to eat less healthy or to have larger portions. In this example, making the decision to eat healthy informs your conscious mind of your goal but what about your subconsious? The subconscious has a lot to do with the imagination. This part of the mind could still be responding to an earlier set of priorities such as 'treat yourself' and, it uses the imagination and feelings to let us know its priorities.
